North Andover's Select Board adopted a tight fiscal year 2027 budget and warned of looming service cuts.
Select Board · Meeting of March 2, 2026
North Andover's Select Board adopted a tight fiscal year 2027 budget and warned of looming service cuts. The board voted unanimously to send the town manager's recommended budget to the Finance Committee after officials said this year already included about $800,000 in reductions, and cautioned that rising health insurance, pension and utility costs could force deeper cuts by fiscal year 2028 if override revenue does not materialize. Separately, the board backed Housing Authority Director Maggie Cleary's plan to convert the 105-unit McCabe Court and Murkesky Meadows public housing portfolio to a HUD project-based voucher program, projected to bring in "at a minimum" $1 million more a year, possibly $1.7 million.
The board also noted the Massachusetts School Building Authority approved the $79.8 million Kittredge School replacement project, with 36.6 percent state reimbursement, heading to a May 12 town meeting vote.
