North Andover Select Board Recommends Rodenticide Restrictions, Tables Eversource Gas Station Petition

NORTH ANDOVER — April 27, 2026 — North Andover Select Board backs rodenticide restrictions and tables contested Eversource gas station petition. The board voted to recommend favorable action on two warrant articles brought by Carol Disney of Save North Andover Wildlife — one a home rule petition to eventually allow a ban on second-generation anticoagulant rodenticide use on private property, the other a bylaw codifying the town's existing no-SGAR practice on municipal land into law — on a 4-1 vote and a unanimous vote, respectively, ahead of the May 12 town meeting. The board tabled an Eversource petition to install a $296,500 gas regulator station at 30 Oaks Drive, a dead-end street, after members raised concerns about the single point of egress and residents noted the street has no gas customers; board members asked Eversource to return with a fuller review of an alternative parcel on Johnson Street. The board unanimously confirmed the Town Manager's appointment of Scott VanderWaal, a certified building commissioner since 2010 and former Medford official, as the town's new building commissioner starting May 4, and recommended favorable action on a $2 million DPW fuel tank replacement and a $2.6 million water treatment plant upgrade, both headed to town meeting.
